Tee off during your Gulf Shores vacation
The warm Gulf waters and stunning white sand beaches are the
main draws to Gulf Shores rentals for many people, but another of this
region's top attractions takes place on a greener setting. Gulf Shores, and the entire Gulf Coast region, is known for its fantastic golf courses, all of which offer a variety of settings for everyone from beginners to pros.
If you are staying in Gulf Shores condos, be sure to pack your clubs
(or plan to rent equipment at the course) and head to Craft Farms,
where you can enjoy the natural beauty of Baldwin County, Alabama
while playing the sport you love.
Craft Farms is home to two courses, Cotton Creek and Cypress Bend, and all 36 holes of golf were designed by Arnold Palmer. In fact, these two courses are the only ones in Alabama the golf legend created. Just north of the sandy shore, Craft Farms was built on an old gladiola farm. R.C. Craft bought the beautiful property in 1956 and saw its potential. Palmer visited in 1986, and the two decided it would be a signature course of the Arnold Palmer Design Company.
Cotton Creek opened in 1987 and the first nine holes of Cypress Bend welcomed golfers in 1993. Today, the courses boast 18 holes each, and are designed to challenge but not scare golfers away. Bring your clubs and enjoy rolling fairways, Bermuda grass, staggered tee boxes and plenty of lakes across the property. Cypress Bend has received four and a half stars from Golf Digest magazine and Cotton Creek has maintained a solid four stars. Both courses have the magazine's recommendation as a few of the Best Places to Play over the years.
