Stomp your feet with some Bluegrass by the Tracks
Looking for something to do that your entire extended family can enjoy while staying at a Gulf Shores area beach house or condo rental? Pile into your car and take everyone to the Wales West RV Park and Light Railway, where local and regional musicians will be playing sweet bluegrass, gospel and classic country music every Tuesday and Friday evening between October and March. All they ask is that you make a $5 donation, which will not only cover the cost of the entertainment, but free refreshments and a train ride to boot.
Listen to the music
Bluegrass by the Tracks is a tradition at the RV park, and visitors as well as residents come from far and wide for an evening of live music and good old-fashioned hanging out with kind-hearted strangers. Local artists like the Chestang Family Band and Down Home have already played in this intimate concert setting.
As an example of what you'll hear, two talented musicians - John Robert Bowyer and Junk Box Mike - call themselves Old Truck Revival. They have dubbed their musical style "newgrass," and they liken themselves to Old Crow Medicine Show. Songs like "Mountain Girl" and "North Alabama" will have you and your loved ones on your feet and dancing in no time.
Stop off for dinner
Before you head to the concert, take the family to Big Daddy's Grill, located just a few minutes from Wales West. This homestyle restaurant will make sure that you get your fair share of fried crawfish, shrimp baskets and incredible fried oysters. Be sure to leave room for the chocolate lava cake, which will undoubtedly tie you over for your evening of dancing and/or singing along.
Bluegrass and country shows are just a few of the many musical events happening along Alabama's Gulf Coast, so keep your eyes open for the acts hitting up the area while you're staying at a beach house rental in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan (Alabama) and Perdido Key (Florida).
