This annual festival is as fitting for lovers of German cuisine as it is for families looking for a fun day of live music and other entertainment.
At the festival, you can expect to sample Elberta's famous German sausage and sauerkraut, as well as other German specialties like German-style cabbage, potato salad and goulash. You can also munch on festival favorites like red beans and rice, hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn and peanuts. When you're visiting the area, tasting Elberta's sausages is a must - the original secret recipe behind this regional favorite is credited to Alfred Stucki, a local who managed Elberta's Locker Plant from 1952 until his death in 1973. It's so good that the one-day festival usually serves up as much as 7,000 pounds of German sausage to as many as 30,000 people.
Once you've had your fill of sausage, participate in all the family fun that abounds at this festival. You'll be able to step along to the sounds of polka, country and traditional German music for entertainment, and you can watch acts such as the Bellview Stumpfiddle Band, and the North End Stompers.
