Look to the skies for the Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival
The skies of the Gulf Coast of Alabama are filled with a kaleidoscope of colors during the annual Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival on Father's Day Weekend, so you'll certainly want to bring your family to Foley for this spectacular show. For two days, you can witness as many as 50 massive floating balloons as they bob in the sky and amble along north of the magnificent Gulf Coast. Be sure to bring your camera so you can take pictures of your little ones gazing upward at this amazing sight.
What happens at the festival?
Aside from the colorful hot air balloons - the highlight
of the weekend's festivities, of course - you can also enjoy live music, entertaining dog shows, and arts and crafts. Keep your eyes peeled toward the heavens in the early mornings and just before sunset, and during the rest of the day you can switch from the painted
sky above you to explore the festival grounds at Foley Sportspark.
Beginning at 6 a.m., you can watch the balloons make their first ascent into the air. It might sound a bit early for your taste, but it's well worth setting your alarm. Once the balloons are in the sky, they provide the perfect backdrop to the rest of your day enjoying the city of Foley and all of the great vendors at the festival.
What can your kids do?
The Hot Air Balloon Festival is ideal for families with kids, as you'll find specially designated zones where your children can have a blast. Interactive entertainment, face painting, inflatable rides and awesome reptile displays are only a few of the things you can expect at the Children's Village.
You don't need any more excuses to visit the Gulf Coast of Alabama - it's time for you to book your getaway! Take a look at the 3-bedroom condos in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan or Perdido Key and plan now to spend some summer days in the great outdoors.
