5 things to pack for your Orange Beach vacation
Orange Beach, Alabama - known for its stunning white-sand beaches, world-famous seafood and overall natural beauty - is the perfect vacation destination for those looking to play in the sun.
When you rent an Orange Beach vacation home, you don't need to worry about bringing household items like dishes, cookware, bath towels or blankets. But there's some gear you'll definitely want to have with you while you explore this region. Below are five items you'll definitely want to pack to make the most of it. Best of all, they'll fit easily in your luggage!
Bathing suit (or five!)
This seems like a given, but with the amount of sunning and swimming you're sure to do, you'll want to pack at least two swimsuits on vacation to Orange Beach. Bring one you can lay out in (that gives you good tan lines) and another that stays in place and is suitable for the aquatic activities you might want to engage in, like snorkeling, parasailing or skim boarding. If you have them, bring your snorkel and mask, too! If you don't own this gear, you can rent or purchase them from a number of shops nearby.
Camera
Maybe the camera on your phone is enough for everyday snapshots, but you might want to bring along a higher-quality device for the many photo opportunities you'll have during your vacation. Many cameras have settings such as "Beach/Snow," which let you capture the best possible picture of the sparkling white-sand beaches that a camera phone might not be able to represent as beautifully. Yes - the beaches are really that white!
Hat and shades
Some other items you'll need are those to protect you from getting too much sun. The bright rays of warm Alabama sun reflect off the sand and the sparkling blue waters, so you'll be happier and you'll actually see better on the beach with a great pair of sunglasses. A hat will also go a long way to shield your eyes. The local shops near your 3-, 4- or 5-bedroom Orange Beach house will sell these items - and of course they'll be in line with the latest fashions!
An appetite
This is an absolute must for traveling to this region, and best of all, it won't take up any room in your suitcase! Orange Beach restaurants are well known for fabulously fresh seafood, including sweet, raw oysters on the half shell or a basket of succulent fried shrimp. For a refreshing beverage, try something you might not find at home - the local bars have some fantastic custom cocktails that are practically a trademark of the region, from fruity hurricanes to creamy bushwackers.
Of course, the most important item on your packing list should be a sunny outlook, so you are ready to soak up all the fabulous fun Orange Beach has to offer!
