What is your vision for 2020 fun? Ours is enjoying fun activities with you in January and February 2020. Our Meyer Vacation Rentals team is excited to host a wide variety of family-focused adventures exclusively for you.

Q. How do I get in on the action?
A. Registration is your first step. We highly recommend that you register early and not wait until you arrive.

Q. When can I register?
A. Mark your calendars for
Wednesday, December 4th at 10 a.m. (CST) to REGISTER either online at www.MeyerRE.com/WinterGuest or by phone at 866-269-6914. Note: The registration process is not open until 12/4/19 at 10 a.m.

Q. What is the cost for each adventure?
A. A couple of the events are free and the majority of the activities are organized and provided at a lower group rate.

Q. Are meals included?
A. Be sure to carefully read the descriptions to discover whether a meal is included in the price or if your meal is on your own.

Q. Who can attend and what is the attendance limit?
A. Winter Guest events are exclusively for Meyer Vacation Rentals guests. The attendance limit is four and at least one person in the party must be a Meyer guest. For example, if you are registering as a couple for the golf tournament and want to invite another couple to join you, that would complete your maximum of four attendees.

Q. Where do I get tickets?
A. NO TICKETS are issued. Once registered your name and number of attendees (up to 4 people) will be listed on a registration list for each event.

Q. Where do I go for each event?
A. The descriptions will also indicate whether you drive to the venue or if you drive to our Gulf Shores office at 1585 Gulf Shores Parkway to board a bus to your activity destination. Note: Parking is provided in the rear of the parking lot behind the Meyer building and the bus will be located on Commerce Avenue beside the sidewalk.

Q. How do I pay?
A. Payment is via credit card a few days following registration. First, you will receive a confirmation of your registered events via email. Second, one of our team members will call within a few days of registration to process your credit card payment (if applicable) and obtain additional information for some of the events.

Q. Can I get a refund if I cancel an activity?
A. Cancellations are very important to make sure we maximize the seating for each event.
Activity fees are non-refundable.

Activities will be posted soon including Attractions, Classes, Day Trips, Property Tours and Signature Events. See the schedule below and pick you favorites NOW so you will be ready to register on Wednesday, December 4th at 10 a.m. (CST).

The Hot Shop Glass Blowing Demo (Free—Limit 45)
Friday, Jan 3 and Tuesday, Feb 4, 9:00 am-10:00 am
Location:26389 Canal Rd (at the Coastal Arts Center), Orange Beach

This visually stunning behind-the-scenes view of glass blowing will blow you away! Marvel at the talent as you observe these talented artists hard at work on their colorful creations at The Hot Shop - Alabama’s premier hot glass blowing facility. Decorative items are available for purchase. PLUS you can register to attend Glass Blowing classes and Pottery classes at the Coastal Arts Center. After the demo in The Hot Shop, we recommend that you schedule time to browse thru the stunning art gallery on the bay. We are quite sure you will want to take a piece of art home with you.

Brandon Styles Live – Musical show ($34.00 – Limit 50) Meal included. ***NEW IN 2020***

Location: Downtown OWA, Foley, AL
Enjoy a delectable buffet dinner served by Groovy Goat (includes: garden salad, spaghetti with red sauce, meatballs, garlic bread, dessert, 1 soda or 1 glass of wine) followed by an up-close and personal musical show. Brandon Style will take you and your date on a TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE as he magically changes his voice while singing nearly 40 classic artists from 1950-1970! You'll swoon to the tunes of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Neil Diamond, and Louis Armstrong, just to name a few. Doors open at 5:15 pm. Buffet line will open at 5:30 pm. Years in the planning you can finally experience the sights and sounds of the zoo in its innovative new 25-acre location near County Road 6 just north of the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge. As the first ZAA-accredited U.S. zoo to be built from the ground up in more than 20 years, the zoo will be able to provide a more spacious modern haven for the 600+ animals at this new location and include: theme-park family entertainment, event venues, gourmet dining, shopping and educational programs. When you arrive we invite you to join us for coffee and doughnuts. Good time for you to explore the new facility at your own pace. New on-site Safari Club Restaurant for you to buy a snack, drink or a meal.

Location: Legends Theater, Downtown OWA, Foley, AL
The longest-running show in Las Vegas is now performing in Downtown OWA just north of the beaches. The show pays tribute to a variety of entertainers, such as Reba McEntire, Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston, and more at the newly constructed OWA Theater. The show will feature not only the world’s greatest tribute artists, but also dancers, back-up vocalists, a live band, magnificent costumes, elaborate theatrical sets, a full array of incredible special effects, and much more. You will have a meal coupon that includes a soft drink, popcorn and hot dog. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at the concessions area.

Dolphin and Nature Cruise with Cetacean Cruises ($25—Limit 34 each cruise)

Location: 4673 Wharf Pkwy W (near Springhill Suites by Marriott at The Wharf), Orange Beach
Orange Beach is the best location for a grand water adventure on Wolf Bay during this dolphin and nature cruise. Your knowledgeable boat captain will serve as a tour guide to points out the local flora, fauna and wildlife which of course includes our local, beloved dolphins. NOTE: plan to arrive by 12:30 pm, snacks and soda available to purchase on the boat.

Painting with Talis ($30—Limit 15)
Monday, Jan 13 and Monday, Feb 3, 10:30 am-12:30 pm
Location: Artworks at Villagio 13700 Perdido Key Dr., Perdido Key, FL (Villagio Shopping Center near Meyer office)
Let your creative juices flow and take a piece of paradise home with you. Art instructor Talis Jayme will assist you to create a tropical painting using acrylic on canvas at this 2-hour painting class at her studio in Perdido Key, Florida.
 

Blacksmithing Experience ($30—Limit 8)
Saturday, Jan 18 and Saturday, Feb 15, noon – 2 pm.
Location: 25520 Austin Road, Daphne

Step into a world of steel and anvils when you choose to drive to Daphne for a Blacksmithing class with Jerry Gardner. After just 2 hours you will create a treasure with your very own hands. Jerry’s goal is to make the class very enjoyable and a memorable experience for all! NOTE: Lunch is on your own in nearby Daphne or Fairhope if you wish.

Join us for a five-hour visit at the Mississippi Gulf Coast's ONLY entirely smoke-free casino. You will receive $15 in FREE play to try your luck at over 800 slots in denominations from a penny to $25 and a variety of table games. Note: Lunch is on your own at the Palace Buffet, Stacked Grill or one of the other on-site eateries. 


New Orleans French Quarter ($30—Limit 52) Lunch is on your own. Self-guided tours with lots of walking on sometimes uneven cobblestone pavement. Not recommended for those with limited mobility

Wednesday, Jan 8, Wednesday, Jan 15, Wednesday, Feb 5 and Tuesday Feb 18 7:30 am-7:00 pm

Food, art and music are the main attraction in this quaint part of the city that feels very European. Spend the approximate 5 hours exploring the sights, sounds and tastes of New Orleans in the historic French Quarter. Take a horse and buggy tour of the area or walk to one of the New Orleans cemeteries, the Aquarium, Butterfly Garden or Harrah’s Casino. Hop on a trolley to the Garden District if you wish. Or visit a historic voodoo museum. Your “must do list” should include beignets at Café Du Monde, shopping at the French Market flea market, the fortune tellers in Jackson Square and a stroll on Bourbon Street.

This tour is full of attractions featuring a unique image of the past. In our first stop we will view actors recreate how people live in the 19th Century in Landmarks’ historic village where we will visit authentic buildings such as the Federal Road, the Log Cabin and the Pole barn. Also the Ordeman-Mitchell-Shaw Townhouse Museum is a 3-story house filled with period antiques. 

Next, we are going to visit the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church. This Church was founded in 1877 and served many functions over the years. Much of Montgomery’s early civil rights activity – most famously the 1956 Bus Boycott – was directed by Dr. Martin Luther King from his office in the lower unit of the church and was pastor from 1954 to 1960. 

Continuing with our Civil Rights tour, we will stop by the Dexter parsonage Museum, so we will experience the actual residence where Dr. King and his young family lived. 

To finish our historical visit of the Civil Rights, we will visit The First White House of the Confederacy that was the Executive Residence of President Jefferson Davis and family while the capitol of the Confederacy was in Montgomery, Alabama. Note: A box lunch is included.

If you enjoy browsing aisles and aisles of eclectic items, this trip to the largest flea market on the Gulf Coast is designed just for you. Explore all of the hidden treasures at this fun shopping paradise with hundreds of booths, 6 concession stands and clean heated restrooms. Lunch is on your own at the concession stands which include burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, roasted corn, boiled peanuts, funnel cakes, and fresh squeezed lemonade. Note: This is an outdoor venue under roof, so bear in mind the temperature when dressing for this activity.

Pensacola Historic Tour & Lunch ($42—Limit 52) Lunch is included. A walking tour with some stairs.

The paradise of our forefathers will be our focus when we tour historic buildings in Pensacola, FL. The four historic sites are the 1805 Lavelle House, 1871 Dorr House, 1832 Old Christ Church and the 1890 Lear/Rocheblave House. Next we will journey to the Grand Hall at McGuire’s Irish Pub nearby for an authentic Southern buffet. Of course no meal at McGuire’s would be complete without the 18-cent bean soup and a choice of desserts. Before we head back to Gulf Shores we will swing by the bay and visit the historic Joe Patti’s Seafood long enough for you to shop for dinner.
 

Montgomery Governor’s Mansion and Hank Williams Museum ($45—Limit 52) A Box Lunch is included ***NEW IN 2020***

We are invited to visit Alabama Governor’s (Kay Ivey) Mansion, designed in 1907 as a private home. Since 1951, it has served as the official residence of the Governor and First Family of Alabama. We will visit 5 public rooms: Reception Hall, Dining room, Parlor, Drawing room and Sun Porch.

Next we will step back in time into the life of Country Music’s first superstar – Hank Williams - where you will be captivated by the southern charm of the Hank Williams Museum and spellbound by the magic of Hank Williams. Artifacts include his 1952 Baby Blue Cadillac along with the most complete collection of Hank Williams' Memorabilia. Note: A box lunch is included. 

Mobile USS Alabama ($39—Limit 52) Lunch on board the ship is included ***NEW IN 2020***

From its humble beginnings on February 1, 1940 as the keel was laid at the Norfolk Navy Yard in Portsmouth, Virginia, Battleship USS ALABAMA (BB-60) has had a remarkable career. She began her World War II adventures in the North Atlantic in 1943, then later that year, went to the South Pacific seas. She ended up in Mobile, Alabama as a National Historic Landmark and memorial to millions. Sitting in her cradle beside Mobile Bay is the National Historic Landmark WWII submarine USS DRUM (SS-228), which is the oldest American submarine on public display. Three other vessels are included in the Park as well as an Aircraft Pavilion. 

Lunch is included and will be served at the wardroom aboard the USS Alabama. The menu consists of: BBQ Brisket, BBQ Pulled pork, BBQ baked beans, gourmet potato salad, rolls, peach cobbler, iced tea and water.

Laissez le bon temps rouler is French for Let The Good Times Roll and that’s what we will do as we roll into Mobile to celebrate the first Mardi Gras parade of the 2020 season in the city where Mardi Gras was born. We will begin the afternoon discovering the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center permanent exhibits along with the touring exhibit “Dinosaurs Around the World.” Included in this afternoon of activity is an IMAX film and a late afternoon meal at the Alabama Power atrium before venturing just outside the doors for the Conde Cavaliers parade beginning at 6:30 p.m. (Note: our bus will stay parked at the Exploreum). Note: meal included.
 

Bellingrath Gardens & Home ($30—Limit 52) Lunch on your own. Self-guided tour with lots of walking and some steps. Not recommended for those with limited mobility.

Even in February you’ll find an abundance of blooms and beauty on this 65-acre Southern estate garden. Admission includes a tour of the preserved home of Walter and Bessie Bellingrath built in 1935. Comfortable shoes and a camera are a must for your leisurely stroll through one of the finest gardens in the country. Be sure to save time to browse through the gift shop before boarding the bus for home. NOTE: Lunch is on your own at the Magnolia Café located near the entrance. Your choices are soup, sandwiches and salads served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Signature Events

Ice Cream Social and Fashion Show (Free—Limit 100)

Location: Meyer office at 1585 Gulf Shores Parkway, Gulf Shores
Join us for a festive afternoon filled with delights. We begin with delicious ice cream from Matt’s Homemade Alabama Ice Cream, followed by a parade of fashions from local businesses and musical entertainment by Chuck Bailey from Mobile. This popular event books fast so we hope you will grab it quickly if you wish to join us as we roll out some fun fashions, delightful music and delicious ice cream treats.

Trivia Night ($5–limit 30) Bring your own snacks and soft drinks or alcoholic beverages to share.

Location: 4671 Wharf Pkwy W, Orange Beach (Orange Beach Event Center at The Wharf)
We invite you to join us as we celebrate our tradition of service to the community at the annual Trivia Night benefiting local libraries. We reserved four tables of eight that we will decorate for this fun-filled popular event. Please bring your adult beverages or soft drinks and snacks. There are raffles and other ways to contribute to this library fundraiser. By the way we have learned that it’s really ok if you’re not good at trivia because it’s all about having fun and raising funds for a great cause.
 

Golf Tournament at Peninsula ($48—Limit 80) Hamburger cookout included after play.
Wednesday, Feb 12, 10:30 am (shotgun start at 11 am) -5:00 pm
Location: 20 Peninsula Blvd.; Gulf Shores (5 miles west of Hwy 59)The Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club is one of the most picturesque courses on the Gulf Coast. Located beside Mobile Bay this popular course features live oaks, cypress and other native plants. Plan to arrive around 10:30 to get in a little putting and driving range practice prior to the shotgun start at 11:00. After play we’ll gather for a hamburger cookout and awards celebration. Cash bar for beer and cocktails.

Mardi Gras Day (Free—Limit 200)
Tuesday, Feb 25, 8:00 am-11:00 am
Location: Meyer office at 1585 Gulf Shores Parkway, Gulf Shores
Bring a lawn chair (if you wish) and let the good times roll as you join us for coffee and donuts and enjoy the Mardi Gras parade from our front lawn. The Gulf Shores parade starts at 10 am and concludes in time for you to claim your spot on Perdido Beach Boulevard (Hwy 182) for the Orange Beach parade that starts at 2:00 pm.
