Gulf Shores National Shrimp Festival

Gulf Shores National Shrimp Festival

Consistently rated one of the top annual events in the nation, the Annual National Shrimp Festival is held the second full weekend of October. In 2016, the event was a huge success, bringing more than 250,000 people to the Alabama Gulf Coast for a weekend filled with food, music, fun, culture…and, most important, shrimp!

A FREE event open to everyone, the 2017 edition of the Shrimp Festival is slated for Oct. 12-15.

More than 300 vendors are on site ready to serve up everything from fine art and jewelry to shrimp and other varieties of seafood prepared any way you like them.

Shrimp Festival Music

The Feast

Shrimp is the star of the show, so dozens of vendors serve our favorite crustacean in all kinds of creative ways. While there's no shortage of fried and boiled shrimp, why not be a little adventurous and sample something with a twist?

When it comes to being creative, local chefs even get into the Shrimp Festival act. Winners of the Shrimp Festival's Annual Restaurant Challenge qualify to compete in the World Food Championships, scheduled for November 7-15, 2016 at The Wharf in Orange Beach (In 2017, the World Food Championships will be held Nov. 6-14, 2017 at the Wharf). Be sure to visit local restaurants while you're in town for the Shrimp Festival. There are plenty of options for those who love seafood as well as those who prefer turf to surf.

The Sounds

Two stages showcase musical entertainment day and night. The music starts Thursday and lasts throughout the festival.

The Sights

Artists and craftsmen travel from all over the country to participate in the Annual National Shrimp Festival. Whether you're looking for whimsy, functional or fun, you'll find a wide variety of crafts to take home. Looking for something to add to your art collection? You'll find everything from paintings to sculptures and more.

The Young & Young At Heart

The Shrimp Festival is fun for the entire family, and that means there's plenty of excitement and entertainment for the little ones. Supervised activities include arts, crafts, games, entertainment, music and more. There are also interactive games and activities to keep the kids occupied. On Saturday, anyone is welcomed to participate in the Sand Sculpture Contest held at the west end of the beach at the public beach access. After you've spent the day at the festival, don't overlook the area's many other fun activities!

Availability during the popular festival is limited. Plan now and reserve your favorite property for the upcoming National Shrimp Festival!
