  • Can we grill out on our balcony?
    No. Use of outdoor grills on decks, porches, balconies and underneath houses is prohibited. Grills are sometimes provided in common areas at condominiums, however we cannot guarantee their working order or availability.
  • What are our departure responsibilities?
    • Leave property reasonably clean and in reasonable order (Note: Additional cleaning charges may apply.)
    • Leave kitchen items (dishes, cookware, etc.) clean.
    • Dispose of all trash in proper outside containers.
    • Lock all doors and windows.
    • Leave all beds unmade and linens on the floor.
  • Will I have access to Internet & business services?
    We provide a computer for our guests at our Gulf Shores office for accessing the Internet between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for 30-minute sessions. This system does not have printing capabilities. We do not have wi-fi service or the ability to connect your computer equipment to our systems. 
  • Does my vacation property have internet access?
    Some properties provide broadband Internet access, either fee-based or free, through their individual service providers. Internet service, if provided, cannot be guaranteed. Check with your reservation specialist for details.
  • Is there a maximum number of vehicles allowed at a property?
    CONDOMINIUMS: Each Condominium Association regulates the number of parking passes issued to rental guests for each size property within the building(s). At many properties the Association assesses a fee which we collect and remit to the association. Based on the Association regulations and fees you will receive one or two parking passes in your arrival package. Note: We cannot guarantee available parking space during peak occupancy weekends in summer.

    HOUSES: Parking passes are not required, however occupancy over the limit stated for the property is carefully monitored as evident by the number of parked cars.

  • How do I check out?
    Check-out Locations: Return your rental keys to the Meyer Real Estate office in the area where the rental property is located (Gulf Shores or Perdido Key).

    Check-out time: 10:00 a.m Early departure key drop boxes are provided at Perdido Key, or you may return keys during early departure to our Gulf Shores office (open 24 hours per day). Certain properties are equipped with electronic keyless locks that allow express check-out. Upon departure you can complete your check out over the phone by calling the express check-out number: 800-698-5093.
  • Do you provide cribs or highchairs?
    No, but Portacribs, baby beds and high chairs are available for a rental fee from local businesses.

  • Can I bring my jet skies, boat, or RV?
    Boats, trailers, jet skis, campers and motor homes are prohibited, with the exception of a few waterfront condominiums allowing limited boat trailer parking on a first-come, first-served basis (ask your reservation specialist for details).
  • Can I make a reservation online?
    Yes. After choosing a property and checking availability, click the “Book It” button and follow those easy steps.
  • What are your office hours?

    Gulf Shores office (1585 Gulf Shores Parkway - Hwy. 59) open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week,

    Perdido Key office (13700 Perdido Key Dr. - Hwy 182, Bldg B Suite 125 @ Villagio) open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. year around. A lock box is provided for arrival packages after hours.

  • Can I view properties online?
    Yes, go to the Vacation Rental Search portion of and search by available dates, property type, gulf orientation, etc. There are photos of the properties and some have virtual tours showing the interior details of that property.
  • Can I make long-distance phone calls from the rental property?
    All local calls are FREE. Long-distance and directory assistance calls must be made collect, via credit card or charged to your personal phone number. Long distance call providers will charge an access fee.
  • How do I report a lost item?
    Click this link to report a lost item. Once the form is complete, you will receive emails on the status of your item. While we are not responsible for items left in properties, we do care about the return of your belongings. If your items are located, you will receive an email requesting shipping information and payment from Chargerback, a secured payment center for returning lost and found items. You may also call us at 800.775.8945 to report the item(s) left behind in one of our rental properties.
  • Can I send/receive a fax or make a photocopy during my vacation?
    FREE photocopy and fax service is provided to vacation rental guests by our Business Center at the Gulf Shores office seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Are there any handicapped accessible properties?
    NO rental properties are equipped for handicapped accessibility.
  • Can I cancel online?
    If you must cancel, change dates or change properties please call us (1-800-213-9544) as soon as possible. We require a 30-day minimum notice for properties with 4 or fewer bedrooms; 90 days minimum notice for monthly rentals; and 90 days minimum notice for properties with 5 or more bedrooms and On Golden Pond 3A for your initial reservation payment to be refunded or transferred (NOTE: Reservations made prior to June 1, 2017, and Veranda, Sundancer E, Sundancer W, Sea Foam, Egret, Sea Urchin I, Sea Urchin II, Pearl West, Pearl, Pearl East, Erica’s Sandpiper, Emerald and Diamond require minimum 180 days’ cancellation notice.). Monthly rentals require a 90-day notice of cancellation, date change or property change. Cancellations or changes occurring within less than stated notice will cause all money paid to date to be forfeited. No refunds for early departure.
  • When do I pay my Initial Reservation Payment?
    Your initial reservation payment is payable via MasterCard, VISA, Discover or American Express at reservation time. If your arrival date is more than a year in advance, a non-refundable processing fee + 10% of base rent is due at the time of reservation. The remaining balance of Initial Reservation Payment is due one year from your date of stay. Payment in full at time of reservation is required if arrival occurs within 30 days for properties with 4 or fewer bedrooms or 90 days for properties with 5 or more bedrooms.
  • When is final payment due?
    Final payment (balance due after Initial Reservation Payment has been paid) is required 30 days prior to arrival for properties with 4 or fewer bedrooms and 90 days prior to arrival for properties with 5 or more bedrooms. Payment may be made by MasterCard, VISA, Discover, American Express, Cashier's Check or Money Order.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    30 days minimum notice for properties with 4 or fewer bedrooms
    90 days minimum notice for monthly rentals
    90 days minimum notice for properties with 5 or more bedrooms and On Golden Pond 3A

    NOTE: Reservations made prior to June 1, 2017, and the Veranda, Sundancer E, Sundancer W, Sea Foam, Egret, Sea Urchin I, Sea Urchin II, Pearl West, Pearl, Pearl East, Erica’s Sandpiper, Emerald, Diamond, Dancing Dolphin require a minimum 180 days’ cancellation notice.

    Cancellations, dates and property changes occurring less than stated minimum days required notice will result in forfeiture of all money paid to date.

  • When do I check in and check out?
    Property location determines check-in office location.


    (1585 Gulf Shores Parkway - Hwy. 59) check-in for Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan and Orange Beach properties. Open 24-hours-per-day, 7-days-per-week.


    (13700 Perdido Key Dr., Suite Bldg B Suite 125 @ Villagio) check-in for Perdido Key properties. Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. year round (Note: If check-in is after hours, arrival packages are located in a lockbox at the Perdido Key office.)

    • Check-in begins at 4:00 p.m. CST.
    • Early check-in is not possible; therefore, we encourage you to enjoy our public beaches and attractions if you arrive in the area early.
    • Our housekeeping standards may require extra cleaning time for some properties, which may delay check-in.
    • Although keys may be released at 4:00 p.m., no guarantee is made that properties will be cleaned by 4:00 p.m.

    Check-out Locations: Return your rental keys to the Meyer Real Estate office in the area where the rental property is located either at the Perdido Key or Gulf Shores office.

    Check-out time - Check-out time is 10:00 a.m. Early departure key drop boxes are provided at Perdido Key or you may return keys during early departure to our Gulf Shores office (open 24 hours per day).

  • What furnishings do properties include?
    All rental properties are equipped with the following, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED:

  • What do I need to bring?
    All Meyer rental properties are set up for normal housekeeping. Each rental property will be furnished with a starter set of products for your first night. This set includes one roll of paper towels, a sponge, liquid dish soap, two powder dishwashing packets, kitchen trash can liners and two cloth kitchen towels in the kitchen, and a face soap bar, a hand soap bar, and a roll of bathroom tissue in each bathroom. A clean trash can liner is placed in the kitchen and bathroom trash cans. The brief list below highlights items that are not furnished in your vacation rental.   • Can I bring the family pet?
    The majority of houses and condos prohibit pets. If a pet or evidence of a pet is found in these properties, immediate eviction and a forfeiture of rent will occur.

    DOG-FRIENDLY PROPERTIES – Meyer Vacation Rentals has some houses and condos that are considered "DOG FRIENDLY PROPERTIES" either during non-summer seasons only or year round. Dog-Friendly Properties have certain weight restrictions, and no cats are allowed. Laws in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Perdido Key prohibit dogs on the beach; however, dogs are welcome on the beach in the Fort Morgan area.

    A nonrefundable fee of $125 will apply to all “Dog-Friendly Property” reservations. Neither this nonrefundable fee nor the nonrefundable damage waiver cover damages or excessive cleaning.

  • What happens if there is inclement weather or if I decide to leave early?
    There are no refunds for early departure due to inclement weather or personal circumstance unless you purchased travel insurance and it is a covered event. Call Red Sky Travel Insurance 866.889.7409 or Click Here for details.
  • What if there is a hurricane or tropical storm?
    Be advised Meyer Vacation Rental's cancellation policy does not provide refunds for unforeseen developments such as illnesses, mandatory hurricane evacuations or similar events that can affect your trip. We strongly recommend that you purchase Travel Insurance. Guests purchasing Travel Insurance may qualify for a refund through Red Sky Travel Insurance. Note: Cancellations, date and property changes occurring less than the minimum days required notice (30 days for condominiums, 60 days for houses, 90 days for monthly rentals and 180 days for 6-bedroom or larger house rentals) will result in forfeiture of initial reservation payment, rent, taxes and fees – no exceptions.
  • Do you offer travel insurance?
    Yes, we offer optional travel protection provided by Red Sky Travel Insurance. Click here for more information.
  • Can I view properties in person?
    Due to liability reasons, keys cannot be released to prospective guests to view property; however, interior photos may be viewed online.
  • Alabama has beaches?
    Yes, our beautiful Gulf Coast beach communities stretch from the southern end of Alabama into the western edge of Florida.     Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport is approximately a 45-minute drive and Mobile Regional Airport is approximately a one-hour drive. See driving directions.

    Fresh seafood (as well as a long list of other culinary delicacies). served in a relaxed setting, is the norm for our area. It's impossible to declare where the best seafood can be found, but we are sure you will decide on your own as you try out these restaurant choices.
  • What is the nightlife like on the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast?

    Our area is sometimes called "golf shores” because of the abundance and variety of golf courses that are sure to delight golfers of all ages and skill levels.

  • Where can I go to fish?
    Inshore fishing, pier fishing and deep-sea fishing are king on our coast, and one look at the long list of possibilities will explain why.

  • Where can I launch my boat?

    Gulf Shores - Canal Park Boat Launch

    Located on the south side of the Intracoastal Waterway on West Canal Drive, directly under the W.C. Holmes Bridge (the Highway 59 bridge crossing the Intracoastal Waterway). This is a well-maintained boat launch with a large, paved parking lot.

    Gulf Shores - Mo's Landing

    Located on the north side of Little Lagoon, across the street from Doc's RV Park (17595 Fort Morgan Road).

    Orange Beach - Cotton Bayou Launch

    Located on Cotton Bayou, north of the Beach Highway and just east of Highway 161 (near Rite-Aide). There are 2 ramps. Due to popularity, parking may be crowded.

    Orange Beach - Boggy Point Launch

    Located at the end of Marina Road, east of Highway 161. This newly renovated launch is within view of the Alabama Point pass. Due to popularity, parking may be crowded.

  • Are vehicles allowed on the beach?
    Only emergency vehicles are allowed to drive on the beach.
  • Can we build a fire on the beach?
    Building a fire on the beach is not allowed.
  • Are fireworks allowed on the beach?
    The use of fireworks on the beach is not allowed.
  • Are there lifeguards at the beach?
    In Gulf Shores and Orange Beach lifeguards patrol the public beaches only.
  • What do the beach flags mean?

    Always take note of flags flying on public beach areas before entering the water. Below are the flag explanations. For tide information, call 251-968-TIDE.

    • GREEN FLAG - Conditions are calm.
    • YELLOW FLAG - Moderate surf and/or currents.
    • RED FLAG - High surf and/or strong currents - no swimming. (Swimming while a red flag flies is ILLEGAL.)
    • DOUBLE RED FLAGS - The surf and currents are so rough that the water is closed to the public.
    • PURPLE FLAG - Dangerous marine life present (sharks, jellyfish, Portuguese man-of-war, skates, etc.).
  • What are rip currents?
    Rip currents are channelized currents of water that pull people away from shore. If caught in a rip current, stay calm. Rather than swimming directly toward the shore, swim parallel to the beach. Once free of the current, swim at an angle, away from the current, toward the shore.
  • Can I pick the sea oats?
    Sea oats are vital vegetation that anchors and stabilizes sand dunes and prevents dune erosion. Wild sea oats is a protected species; picking sea oats or harvesting the seeds is against the law.
  • Can I walk on the sand dunes?
    Sand dunes play a major role in protecting our white, sandy beaches. The daily rise and fall of the tides and windy weather continually change the profile of the beaches, and sand dunes help to naturally replenish them. The sand dunes are also habitats for sea turtle eggs, sand crabs, and other marine creatures. Please use dune walks, boardwalks and other designated paths to the water, and never walk through the dune system.
  • How can we protect nesting sea turtles?
    Three species of nesting sea turtles call our area home. These endangered and threatened species are protected by law. Please do not disturb the turtles or their nests. To keep the hatchlings' path clear, remove all beach equipment and trash. Turn off outside lights and shield indoor lights from shining onto the beach at night. Avoid using flashlights or flash photography.
  • Who are the Meyer companies?

    Meyer Vacation Rentals represents the largest variety of vacation rental properties in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan (AL) and Perdido Key (FL), with more than 1600 beach homes and condos ranging in size from a one-bedroom condo to an eleven-bedroom beach house.

  • What are the benefits of renting a condo or beach house rather than a hotel room?
    Space and savings top the list of reasons condo and beach house rentals are so attractive; you can pay 50% less per square foot and you can share that cost with family and friends. In addition to your private bedrooms and baths, the bonus is a private balcony or deck usually overlooking the gulf or other body of water, a living/dining area and a fully equipped kitchen.
  • How do I choose the ideal Meyer Vacation Rental property?
    Finding the best property for your vacation needs is simple when you use the online search at Specify your preferred dates, size property or number you need to accommodate, price range, beach area, view, amenities, etc., and your results will include details, photos, virtual tours and price quotes for each property.
  • What is considered "in season” and "off season”?
    Typically Memorial Day to Labor Day is the primary season for our beach resort area. Reduced vacation rates are available generally from September (after Labor Day) thru mid-May.
  • Do keys have to be returned to the office?
    Yes, it is necessary to return keys to the office where you checked in. We do not operate front desks at the condos, so keys may not be left at your building. Properties equipped with keyless entry locks feature express check-in which allows you to go directly to the property without issuing keys. An Express Check-in icon is displayed on our website for properties with that feature.
  • Can I get an extra parking certificate?
    Parking space is limited at condo buildings as regulated by the Homeowner Association Board. The Homeowner Association typically only allows guests to be issued a maximum of one to two passes, depending on the specific association's requirements. For your convenience, extra cars may be parked in our parking lot at the Gulf Shores office at your risk and subject to availability.
  • Can I arrange for beach chairs and baby beds prior to arrival?
    We do not supply baby beds, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. You can make prior arrangement with the beach service and equipment rental companies for these items.
  • What does the Vacation Rental Damage Protection cover?

    You may participate in Meyer Vacation Rentals’ security deposit waiver program (the “Security Deposit Waiver Program”) by paying a non-refundable fee to Meyer Vacation Rentals in the amount of $25 for 1-bedroom units, $50 for 2-bedroom units, $50 for 3-bedroom units, and $100 for units up to 4 bedrooms. Upon payment of the non-refundable Security Deposit Waiver Program fee, Meyer Vacation Rentals will waive your liability for unintentional damages to the rental unit that occur during your stay in an amount up to $1,000 for 1-bedroom units, $1,500 for 2-bedroom units, $3,000 for 3-bedroom units, and $4,000 (as applicable, the “Waiver Limit”) for units with 4 or more bedrooms; provided, that all such unintentional damages must be disclosed to management prior to checkout in order to be subject to the Security Deposit Waiver Program. Liability for damage (i) caused by intentional, malicious or grossly negligent acts or (ii) in excess of the Waiver Limit, is not hereby waived pursuant to the Security Deposit Waiver Program and you are responsible for all such damages. Unless you participate in the Security Deposit Waiver Program, a refundable security deposit must be delivered to Meyer Vacation Rentals. The amount of the refundable security deposit shall be set based on the size of your unit; a $1,000 refundable security deposit is required for units with 1-bedroom, $1,500 is required for units with 2 bedrooms, $3,000 is required for units with 3 bedrooms, and $4,000 is required for units with 4 or more bedrooms. The option to participate in the security deposit waiver program or payment of the refundable security deposit must be determined at the time of booking. If, during your stay at one of our rental properties, any damage to real or personal property of the unit results, the refundable security deposit shall be used to repair or replace such property. You will be notified in writing regarding any deductions to the refundable security deposit. All security deposits not subject to deductions shall be refunded within 45 days of departure. Any damages that exceed the applicable refundable security deposit or are not subject to the Security Deposit Waiver Program will remain your obligation and may be charged to the credit card on file (if for any reason such charges are not able to be charged to the credit card on file, you agree to pay us within ten (10) days of notice of such charges).

  • What information can I find in the vacation handbook?

  • What is Express Check In?
    Express Check In means your selected property is equipped with a keyless entry lock that will allow you to gain direct access when your code activates at 4 p.m., CST. So you can head straight to your property and begin your coastal getaway without stopping by our office for keys. Note: Express Check-In service is not available for reservations made within 14 days of arrival. Please click here for our entire Express Check In FAQ page.
  • Is there a minimum age to rent a Meyer Vacation Rentals property?
    Yes. While some Meyer Vacation Rentals properties require a minimum booking age of 19 years old, many require a minimum booking age of 25 years old. Each property's description includes the minimum age to rent. The legal renter named on the rental agreement must occupy the property during the dates listed on the agreement. Identification must be furnished upon request.
  • What are my options if my reservation is between April 4 and April 30, 2020?
    The following options are available for vacationers with reservations for arrival between April 4 and April 30, 2020: 1. Keep your scheduled vacation reservation date as planned. 2. Reschedule your vacation reservation for a future date. 3. Receive a certificate for a future stay to be used prior to April 30, 2021. The certificate will be issued in the full amount you have paid. 4. Receive a full cash refund, including processing fee.
  • Can I have my mail forwarded from my home directly to my vacation residence for the duration of my stay?
    Mail CANNOT be delivered directly to your vacation residence. Only property owners have access to on-site mailbox keys, which are government property, not transferable, and cannot be duplicated. To ensure you do not miss any pieces of mail, you may rent a Gulf Coast area post office box from a local post office prior to or upon your arrival to the area and request that your mail be forwarded.
