When deciding what to do in Gulf Shores beyond the beach, Waterville USA should top your list for family fun activities. This 20-acre water park and amusement park, established in 1986, is conveniently located just a quarter of the mile from the public beach and has proven to be a favorite of visitors both young and young at heart.

Summer Pleasures

The water park itself is open during the summer from just before Memorial Day until Labor Day ends the season. Little ones have a special place designed just for them at Shrimpboat Village where they can frolic in their exclusive water world for hours. Moving up to some wave action the large North Shore Wave Pool features three-foot waves that mimic the gulf waters.

The straight shooting and curvy slides are not for the faint of heart including the Screamin’ Demon, Triple Dog Dare, Jet Stream, Hurricane, Black Widow, Great White and Gold Rush options. Some of these thrill rides are open and some are enclosed slides and are either tube or body slides depending on the experience.

Slow your pace as you float along throughout the park on the Crystal Waters Lazy River or test your surfing skills at the Flowrider.

Amuse the Family

In spring, summer and fall spend some quality family time at Waterville’s amusement park where you can challenge each other to a Nascart go-cart race at the Waterville 500 or a game or two of mini-golf. There are special rides for the smallest members of your group at the Fun Depot and even inflatable jumpers for lots of bouncing fun at the indoor House of Bounce.

Grab the gang and make your way to Cannonball Run, the only wooden roller coaster on the coast, where for a brief moment you can see the shoreline before the next dip in the track. Finally win your sweetheart a special prize in the extensive Starcade arcade.
