A family affair

Sample the tastes of the sea at the Original Oyster HouseTraditional family values are a key part of life here in Gulf Shores, and you'll experience the famous Southern hospitality when you go out to dinner at the Original Oyster House, a local favorite since 1983. The owners—Joe and Mary Lou Roszkowski, and David and Jane Dekle—pride themselves on offering the freshest ingredients at reasonable prices, and providing service by a friendly staff in a family atmosphere.

Through a shared dream, Joe, Mary Lou, and David and Jane Dekle built what is considered one of the most iconic seafood restaurants along the Gulf Coast. The Original Oyster House first opened in Gulf Shores with 60 seats and 10 employees. Southern hospitality coupled with the best tasting, fresh Gulf seafood and waterfront locations have ensured the restaurants’ place in history, having become one of the most beloved family restaurants in Mobile and Gulf Shores.

Come one, come all

Whether you're looking for a light lunch (check out the extensive salad bar) or a big dinner, the Original Oyster House has you covered.

Our favorite section on the menu is the "Oyster House Specialties," where you will find seafood platters piled high with crab cakes, shrimp, fried green tomatoes, flounder, stuffed crab, blackened Mahi and so much more.

If you're stopping by for lunch with friends, you can enjoy a variety of traditional meals and some more adventurous dishes. The Stuffed Flounder Florentine, served with creamy spinach, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, is especially tasty.

Of course, shrimp is a staple at Gulf Shores area restaurants, and the Original Oyster House is no exception. The house Shrimp au Gratin is to die for. You might think about creating your very own platter with shrimp, oysters, shrimp scampi, fried flounder, baked stuffed crab and even fried chicken tenders..

Not just great food

While there's no disputing the quality of the culinary creations offered at the Original Oyster House, you can be sure of some family fun while you enjoy your meal. Throughout the year, the restaurant holds special events to liven up the evening, including the chance for kids to hold a real baby alligator!

If you're looking for a dining experience that's a little more personal, you can reserve one of the Original Oyster House's banquet rooms for a private function. With room for 40 to 100 guests, this fine restaurant is the ideal venue for your family reunion or corporate getaway.

The Original Oyster House is located near lots of vacation rental options, especially along the beach in Gulf Shores and toward Fort Morgan.

Be sure to take the family to visit historic Fort Moran, where you can explore a museum, run around and play in the fort, and see some of the most gorgeous views around of Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
