Much like the Leave Only Footprints ordinance in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Ala., Perdido Key has now adopted conservation practices to minimize impacts to federally protected species.

Perdido Key Adopts Clean Beach Ordinance

Just as its neighbors to the west on the Alabama Gulf Coast have done, Escambia County, home to Perdido Key, has adopted conservation practices to minimize impacts to federally protected species and their habitats.

According to the Perdido Key Habitat Conservation Ordinance, any unattended personal property must be removed daily from Perdido Key Gulf-front property for the period beginning one hour after sunset through one hour after sunrise.

It is also a violation of the ordinance to move, destroy or in any way disturb a nest marker placed by a nest marking authority.
