The 25th Annual Orange Beach Seafood Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at The Wharf in Orange Beach.
The festival, which typically attracts more than 15,000 visitors to Main Street, will feature nearly 100 arts and crafts vendors; live music; a silent auction; a car show with antique, classic and hot rod vehicles; and a kids’ zone with climbing wall, games, bounce houses, face-painting and more.
Headlining the live entertainment this year is Shelby Brown, local celebrity and semi-finalist for the 2015 season of “The Voice.”
Brown, who grew up in the nearby town of Elberta, Ala., was just 17 years old when she competed on “The Voice." She was a member of the team coached by Adam Levine of Maroon 5.
Other festival entertainers include musician David Jones, a professional trumpet player whose sound is classified as “soul jazz,” and Savannah Litton, whose voice will serve as an uplifting backdrop for festivalgoers as they enjoy the activities.
Numerous food vendors will serve everything from fried fish and fries to blackened shrimp tacos and coconut shrimp beignets with a Creole pepper marmalade.
The Orange Beach Seafood Festival is the major annual fundraising event for the Orange Beach Sports Association (OBSA).
OBSA supports and organizes youth T-ball, baseball and softball for Orange Beach residents, with festival proceeds used to purchase uniforms, equipment and insurance and pay expenses for officials and clinics.
“We look forward to organizing this festival every year,” said Lee Rodgers, president of the OBSA. “It’s a great way to bring together residents of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach with visitors in support of local children who are able to stay healthy and fit and have fun by playing youth sports. This festival allows us to subsidize local youth sports and provide much-needed sports equipment to our schools in addition to scholarships to college-bound seniors. This event is a win for our communities and for everyone involved.”
