Gulf Shores Becoming Even More Pedestrian, Cyclist Friendly
The City of Gulf Shores and the Alabama Department of Transportation will complete work simultaneously on two projects that will make the city even safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
One project will create an 8-foot-wide multi-use path along both sides of Ala. Hwy. 59. The other project seeks to modify various driveways and side streets on Hwy. 59 from the junction of Ala. 182 to the intersection of 20th
Avenue in Gulf Shores.
Work is planned to begin from the south, working north in two block sections. The majority of the work is expected to be completed by spring, with no work begin performed during peak season.
Numerous family-friendly vacation properties
are available near the Gulf Shores Public Beach access, including San Carlos
, just east of the public beach.
