Enjoy a mom squad vacation on the Alabama Gulf Coast any time of year on the beaches of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan or Perdido Key. A little time away from the duties of motherhood—even if it’s just for a few days—can renew your soul.
Why Moms Need A BreakWhether it’s a three-, four- or seven-night stay, vacations provide numerous mental health benefits for moms needing a little time off from the little ones.
Moms often find they lose themselves in caring for their kids. As a result, they can become irritable and lose patience with the kids and other loved ones.
After a few days of rest and relaxation and focus on themselves, moms will often find balance is restored, their attitude improved and a sense of refreshment has washed over them.
Moms often bear the majority of parenting duties, with children naturally relying on them for their needs and wants as a result. With mom away, the kids likely will have an opportunity to bond with friends and other family members and learn that others are also present and available to support them.
Additionally, when mom’s away the kids for a short time, they will realize just how important mom is to the family and perhaps appreciate her even more. Not to mention, after you’ve had a little time off, you’ll return with a newfound appreciation not only of your children but also of those who served as caregivers during your vacation.
What To Do On A Mom Squad Beach VacationThe fall is an especially fun time to visit Gulf Shores beaches, as they are a bit quieter and the weather is warm and sunny enough for beach fun and many of the other activities you might normally enjoy in the summer.
First of all, get ready to do…nothing. If you need to recharge, put down your phone and step out onto your vacation rental’s private balcony for a little quiet time. Whether you’re alone basking in the peacefulness of the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore and the seagulls overhead or you’re with your friends catching up, be sure to make the most of your private balcony.
Next, think about grabbing a cup of coffee or tea at one of the area’s delightful coffee shops. Grab a cup of gelato or a yummy muffin to go with your java.
A shopping trip would make a great agenda item next, especially if you’re enjoying breakfast or coffee at Southern Grind at The Wharf in Orange Beach.
A few miles north of The Wharf, just off the Beach Express, is Tanger Outlets in Foley, where you’ll find more than 120 stores to explore filled with great deals on name brand apparel, housewares and more.
Before you head back to the beach, check out the new Park at OWA, where 21 thrilling rides, a midway, restaurants and retail outlets promise hours of adrenaline-pumping entertainment. Ride the rides you want to ride (including the kiddie rides, if you choose).
An afternoon or evening hiking or biking the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails might also be in order if you’d like to sneak in a little time exercising or simply communing with nature. These trails provide miles of paved paths through various eco-systems, and it’s not uncommon to see wildlife along the way.
A sunset sailing cruise, a dolphin watching excursion or a kayak trip on Wolf Bay are other unique and relaxing ways to explore the natural beauty of the area.
Be sure you take some time just to experience the beaches during your time away from the kiddos. There’s nothing more reinvigorating than sitting on the sand, breathing in the salt air and watching the waves roll onto the shore.
Return home from a Gulf Shores area vacation with a renewed spirit to care for your loved ones. Everyone will thank you for taking time for you!
