Rodeo To Serve As Youth Peer Helper Fundraiser

The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation’s 19th Annual Professional Rodeo & Fundraiser will be held Aug. 4-6, 2016, in Foley, Alabama.

The rodeo typically attracts 9,000 spectators during the course of the three-day event. From bull riding by professional cowboys to bouncy houses in the Kids’ Zone, and even a new kick-off party, there’s fun for the whole family.

The rodeo is a Professional Cowboy Association event, and will be held at the Foley Horse Arena, rain or shine.

The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation Annual Professional Rodeo is the primary fundraiser for the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing training, funding and support of Peer Helper Programs in Baldwin County, Alabama, also home to the coastal communities of Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan and Orange Beach.

In 18 years the organization has grown to provide annual training for more than 200 teachers and administrators, support Peer Helper programs in 47 schools serving pre-k through 12th grade, and present the annual National Peer Program Conference and guest speakers at individual schools all in Baldwin County.

The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation’s Peer Helper Program model is a certified curriculum based upon teaching communication, coping and problem solving skills in order to equip students with the knowledge to support their peers through daily issues and life obstacles.

These Peer Helper programs empower students to serve as tutors, mentors, mediators and friends to their fellow students, supporting them through academic or personal struggles including preventing bullying, avoiding dropout, leaving destructive relationships, helping new students adjust and much more.

This concept is based on the fact that when young people seek help, validation or guidance, they turn to a peer first and reach out to their parents much later, if at all. Therefore, it is youth that the foundation will continue to empower to support one another because they make the greatest positive impact.
