Single-night tickets and season ticket packages are now on sale at the Gulf Shores City Store or online through the city for the series that will feature 12 shows from six different acts ranging from Grammy Award winners to orchestras, acoustic harmonies and spectacular performances.
Performances will take place at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center in Gulf Shores.
“The entertainment series performances are a very popular evening activity for our winter guests,” said Sarah Kuzma, operations specialist for Meyer Vacation Rentals and organizer of Meyer’s “Stay Golden” exclusive winter guest activities. “We encourage our winter guests not only to participate in our workshops, day trips, visits to attractions and signature events but also to enjoy the many offerings of our local communities during their stay with us.”
January 23 & 24 – Atlantic City Boys – 7 p.m.Composed of four dynamic singers, the Atlantic City Boys lend their world-class vocals to the rock-n-roll harmonies made famous by groups like The Drifters, The Four Seasons, The Beach Boys and many more. Enjoy hits of the 50s and 60s rock-n-roll era with songs like “I’m a believer,” “Let’s Hang On,” and “My Eyes Adored You.” Tickets: $35
January 30 & 31 – The New Christy Minstrels – 7 p.m.The influence of The New Christy Minstrels on pop and folk music is undeniable, with chart-topping hits such as “Green, Green,” “This Land Is Your Land,” “Denver,” and the Oscar-winning song “Chim Chim Cher-ee.” Hailed for its rich and robust vocal blend, the ensemble garnered a “Best Performance by a Chorus” Grammy for its album “Presenting The New Christy Minstrels.” Tickets: $35
February 6 & 7 – Kingston Trio – 7 p.m.Emerging from San Francisco’s North Beach scene in 1957, The Kingston Trio brought the rich tradition of American folk music mainstream. Influencing musical tastes of a generation, they enjoyed unprecedented record sales and worldwide fame in the 50s and 60s. Today the trio is comprised of Bill Zorn, George Grove and Rick Dougherty. Using only acoustic guitars and banjos they’ve remained true to their trademark sound. Tickets: $35
February 13 & 14 - The Young Irelanders – 7 p.m.Composed of eight young performers, The Young Irelanders’ show features traditional Irish song and dance. This talented group has performed for U.S. presidents, the queen of England, and Price Albert of Monaco. They have also toured as lead performers with Riverdance, shared the stage with Bono, and recorded with Ronnie Wood. Tickets: $35
February 20 & 21 – Russian String Orchestra – 7 p.m.Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the Russian String Orchestra, previously Chamber Orchestra Kremlin, is composed of some of Russia's finest young string musicians. About half of the nearly 2,000 concerts the orchestra has performed to date have taken place in Moscow; the rest were performed on tours in 24 countries in Europe, North and South America, and the Far East. The orchestra's discography of more than 30 CDs has received widespread international acclaim, such as the Diapason d'Or award in France, Critics Choice in London's Gramophone, Critics Choice in The New York Times, and Record of the Year award in Hong Kong. March 6 & 7 – Gershwin With A Twist – 7 p.m.Closing out the Entertainment Series is Gershwin with a Twist. Starring pianist and vocalist extraordinaire Brian Gurl and vocalist Michele Pruyn, this six-piece production features contemporary treatments of music ranging from reggae to doo-wop and rhythm and blues to rap. Contrasted against these unique arrangements are poignant, artful and traditional renditions of many of their most beloved compositions, making for an unforgettable experience! Tickets: $35
