It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas on the Gulf Coast. Visit Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, Orange Beach and Perdido Key in December and enjoy a series of holiday events.

Beginning the day after Thanksgiving and running through New Year’s Day, the celebration will feature everything from the Christmas Lighted Boat Parade to holiday bazaars and polar dips.

Developed by the Alabama Coastal Business Chamber, Coastal Christmas is designed to showcase the Coastal Baldwin region as a destination for holiday travel and shopping opportunities. Since its inception in 2012, many local organizations and governmental entities have come together to add to the calendar of events.

Everybody Loves A Parade!
A highlight of the Christmas celebration is the Christmas Pride. Held from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Dec. 4, the 5th Annual City of Gulf Shores Christmas Parade will start at Club House Drive on Hwy. 59 and head south. It will end at the Gulf Shores Public Beach.

Merry Market
On Dec. 11 and 12, the 4th Annual Merry Market Unique Gifts and Arts and Crafts Expo will be held at the Orange Beach Events Center at the Wharf. Peruse a variety of local vendors’ exhibits from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and find local homemade honey, jams, jellies, dips, crafts, fine arts items and a selection of other unique coastal and regional items. More than 80 vendors have already signed up to participate.

Kids of all ages will also be able to enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus and a puppet show during Merry Market.

Lighted Boat Parade
Stick around the Merry Market on Dec. 12 for a great view of the 30th Annual Lighted Boat Parade. Set to begin at Lulu’s at dusk, the parade will take decorated boats east down the Intracoastal Canal Waterway and should be passing the Wharf around 6 p.m.

Want to ride in the boat parade? Charter boats are available to host your group. Call 251-981-2300 for more information.
