When you rent Gulf Shores beach houses or condos, the miles-long white sand beaches and sparkling blue waters are literally steps away, which means you have full access to every water sport there is. Although simply lounging on the beach or body surfing through the waves are perfectly fine ways to pass your time in this coastal destination, one of the greatest thrills is parasailing. Soaring through the bright blue skies, you can enjoy the best view of the Gulf Coast!
Who can help you take flight?
If you're staying in Gulf Shores rentals, you will want to head to Perdido Key Parasail and Pleasure Island Parasail, both of which operate right in Gulf Shores. Chute 'em Up Parasailing, ABC Parasail and Blue Reef Watersports are other nearby options, located nearby in Orange Beach. These professionals can help you fly solo or with two or three other riders, and you can soar anywhere from 400 to 800 feet in the air. If you really want to fly high, head to Blue Reef Watersports - they bring visitors as high as 1,000 feet!
Sail and fly
An integral part of the experience is sailing out to the spot from which you'll fly. Usually, instructors will take you about five or 10 minutes out on a boat into the Gulf. During this time, you'll gear up - parasailing requires a life jacket and harness. Once the boat stops, you'll head to the back of the boat, where your instructor will hook your harness up to a parachute yoke. At this point, you sit down, the boat speeds up and you lift off into the air - taking in views of the Gulf Coast for miles. Look for manta rays, sea turtles and dolphins under the surface of the gorgeous turquoise waters. Wave to your friends on the beach! You'll be down on the ground again before you know it.
