Following a hiatus in 2020, Flora-Bama’s Interstate Mullet Toss & Gulf Coast’s Greatest Beach Party will be held April 23-25, 2021, at the iconic, award-winning beach bar that straddles the Alabama/Florida state line (and is known for having one of the best bushwackers around)!
Participants throw a dead mullet over the state line of Florida and Alabama to see whose fish travels the farthest.
This year’s event is a little different than in years past. Chairs around the Mullet Toss will be free, and areas will be blocked off for standing room.
Personal beach chairs and tents are allowed on all Flora-Bama properties at no charge. Space is limited, however, and available first come, first served.
Outside coolers or alcohol are not permitted.
Spaces for 10x10 tents will be available for $125 for the weekend on the Phoenix X beach from Ike’s Beach Service. For more information, contact Ike’s Beach Service at 251-948-3757.
Coolers are allowed in the Phoenix X beach area for those who have rented tent space.
Awards will be issued in a variety of categories, ranging from children to adults 17 years old to 50+.
This year’s event will feature local celebrities tossing out a few fish at 4 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Flora-Bama will make a contribution for each fish flung to local youth charities, including the local school education and prevention program administered by the Community Drug & Alcohol Council, which provides school and community support and collaboration to address drug and alcohol abuse, tobacco, mental health issues, and violence both in the home and on the streets.
A condo or beach house in Perdido Key is a great choice for accommodations when attending the annual Mullet Toss.
