Experience worldly cultures at the Mobile International Festival
The Mobile International Festival is a once-a-year celebration of the diversity you can find along the Gulf Coast of Alabama, and visitors and residents come from far and wide to represent their countries of origin. The pride in every participant is palpable the moment you walk into the Mobile Civic Center, as hundreds of countries are represented with song, dance, food and elaborate costumes. You and your loved ones will be welcomed with open arms as performers and chefs show you what makes their heritage so unique.
Exhibitions and galleries
You won't need a passport to explore the world during the Mobile International Festival. By merely walking a few feet between stations, you can travel around the globe - and you won't even have to remove liquids from your luggage! Each of the exhibitions and galleries features souvenirs and goods from craftspeople who use traditional methods to create each item, from paper dolls and jewelry to intricate Easter eggs and woodwork.
Want to educate your kids about the incredible cultures they can find all around the world? How about getting to know how children from other nations learn in school? At the Children's Corner, your little ones have the chance to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics from the vantage of another culture. At Annette's Storytelling Room, your children will be dazzled with fascinating stories while conducting science experiments at the same time. For the artist in your family, you can take them to the David McCann Art Gallery, where they can learn about what goes into making gorgeous pottery.
If you've never had Scandinavian food, then you're in for a real treat at the Mobile International Festival. Along with cuisine from Northeastern Europe, you can also sample the taste of Cuba, Lebanon and even Jamaica - nearly every culinary tradition will be represented!
Don't miss your chance to explore the world in Mobile, and keep your calendar open for this awesome event!
