Gulf Shores Zoo Opens Free For Christmas Celebration
The
Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, nicknamed “The Little Zoo That Could,” following its rebirth after Hurricane Ivan, will open its doors free of charge from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12 to celebrate “Christmas with God’s Creatures.”
Sponsored by the zoo as well as local churches, the event will include a petting zoo, Christmas crafts, a live nativity scene and storytelling.
There will also be homemade treats, refreshments and Christmas caroling.
Dress up clothes will be provided for children to dress up and take their photo in the nativity scene.
The Bay Area Food Bank will also be accepting canned donations of the following items for distribution to the Gulf Shores Christian Service Center:
- Canned Corn
- Beans
- Peas
- Gravy
- Cranberry Sauce
- Stuffing Mix
- Cream Soups
- Broth
The Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., and is located at 1204 Gulf Shores Parkway. For more information, please call (251) 968-5732.
