The 25th Orange Beach Billfish Classic is scheduled for May 18-23, 2021, at the marina at The Wharf family-focused, upscale entertainment complex.
The Orange Beach Billfish Classic was formed in 1996 for the purpose of providing financial support for organizations that speak effectively for recreational fishermen. The event quickly became a popular Gulf Coast activity and now serves as a major fundraiser for The Billfish Foundation.
Since its inception, the classic has donated more than $760,000 to the foundation and other qualified conservation organizations.
The classic includes tuna, wahoo and dolphin (mahi) in optional cash categories but is primarily a blue marlin tournament. The event traditionally attracts competitive fishing teams with a passion for sportfishing.
The family-run tournament emphasizes team participation and is the only tournament on the Gulf Coast owned and operated by tournament fishermen.
Classic organizers emphasize fairness, a sensible payout, a schedule that caters to fishing teams, and billfish conservation.
Visit the Wharf before and after the weigh-ins for the anglers. Weigh-ins will be held in Marlin Circle at 6 p.m., Friday, May 21, and 7 p.m., Saturday, May 22.
If you enjoy fishing yourself, bring your fishing poles and tackle box and choose one of these condos with access to a fishing pier. Remember to purchase a fishing license during your visit!
Or, get out on the water yourself by bringing your boat and selecting a boat-friendly vacation rental.
