The 2020 Interstate Mullet Toss & Gulf Coast’s Greatest Beach Party will be held April 24-26 at the legendary and recently named “Best Beach Bar” Flora-Bama Lounge, Package and Oyster Bar.
In this event that draws tens of thousands of people each year to participate, watch or just hang out with the crowd, participants throw a dead mullet over the Florida/Alabama state line to see who can throw the fish the farthest.
Here are six tips for making the most of your Mullet Toss experience.
As usual, the event will feature local celebrities tossing out a few fish at 4 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
A contribution for each fish thrown will go to local youth charities as well as the prevention program from the Community Drug and Alcohol Council. The council offers assistance, community support and collaboration to address drug, tobacco and alcohol abuse; mental health issues; and violence in the home and on the streets. Annually, the mullet toss contributes more than $40,000 to local charities.
Participation costs $15 and includes a souvenir T-shirt.
Personal beach chairs and tents are allowed on all properties. However, coolers and alcohol brought from the outside are not allowed.
Choose a condo or beach house in Perdido Key or nearby Orange Beach as your Mullet Toss headquarters. If staying right on the beach is not necessary for your crew, choose one of our budget-friendly properties.
