The temperatures might still be balmy in November, but the beach communities of Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, Orange Beach and Perdido Key are dressing up for the holidays.

This includes The Wharf in Orange Beach, where a variety of activities celebrating the Christmas season will soon be underway.

Ice Skating Under The Big Top

From Nov. 13, 2020 to Jan. 18, 2021, the Wharf’s ice skating rink will be open to kids of all ages. Children under the age of 19 will need consent from a parent or legal guardian to skate.

The rink is located under the large white tent on Main Street next to the fire station.

Hours of operation vary, and the rink will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day but open New Year’s Day.

General admission is $12 per person. Purchase a combo pass for the Ferris wheel and ice skating rink for $17.

Photos With Big Guy

Bring the kids, your fur baby or your friends and pose for a photo with Santa from Nov. 13-Dec. 24.

Santa will be stationed at The Port at the Wharf across from the Ferris Wheel. Santa will also be present during the Dec. 1 Annual Christmas Tree Lighting.

Photo packages are available for purchase.

All Aboard For The North Pole Express!

On Saturdays from Nov. 14-Dec. 19, be sure to bring the kids out for a ride on The Wharf North Pole Express.

Kids are welcome to wear their PJs and enjoy the sights and sounds as the train travels through the winter wonderland.

Children will receive a candy cane, coloring book and a Golden Ticket sticker as souvenirs.

Cost is $6 per person.

Holiday Horse & Carriage Rides

Starting Nov. 15, The Wharf will bring back its horse and carriage rides along Main Street.

Spend an evening under the coastal moonlight as you gaze at holiday lights and decorations with your loved ones.

Cost is $25 per carriage ride for up to 6 adults.

Black Friday Shopping

The day after Thanksgiving is a great day to get outside and support the boutiques at The Wharf.

You’ll find plenty of deals at a variety of shops, including Kilwins, High Cotton Bath Co., Maho Bay Company and more.

Small Business Saturday

Support small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving by coming out to The Wharf to shop in some of area’s most unique coastal boutiques.

Not sure what to purchase your friend or loved one? How about a gift card that can be used on their next visit? The possibilities are endless.

Be sure to dine in one of The Wharf’s tasty restaurants. Here, you’ll find everything from white linen service restaurants to a wine shop featuring small bites to a casual taco restaurant.

If you’re here during the week, stop in at The Sandshaker for open mic night or the karaoke DJ Party. You’ll enjoy an upbeat evening in a casual coastal atmosphere.

Reelin' In The New Year

Shake off 2020 at The Wharf during the Reelin’ in the New Year celebration on Thursday, Dec. 31.

Presented by Pepsi, WKRG and Miller Lite, this event will bring live bands, family-friendly activities and adult-centered fun that will be topped off at midnight with Fly By Radio, the annual marlin drop and a fireworks finale.

The fun begins at 5 p.m. with a DJ and bands, a mechanical bull, a rock wall, a bungee trampoline jumper, camel rides, horse and carriage rides, and more.

A condo in Orange Beach is a perfect spot to use as your headquarters for holiday fun on the coast. Or, if you enjoy the quieter side of the beach yet still want to be near all the action, choose a condo or house in nearby Perdido Key, Fla., which is only a few miles from The Wharf.
