The City of Gulf Shores announced the 2019 Sunset Series coming to Gulf Place Town Green and Public Beach. The 2019 Sunset Series will consist of four events on the following dates: Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26.

All Sunset Series events will begin at 6 p.m. Admission is free to the public.

Movie Screening – “Aquaman” | September 5

The 2019 Sunset Series will kick off on Sept. 5 with a movie screening of “Aquaman,” rated PG-13. Residents and visitors are invited to bring a blanket, lawn chair, snacks and cooler and join us for a movie under the stars right beside our beautiful beach front.

The Trio | September 12

The Trio, featuring Carl Jackson, Jerry Salley and Larry Cordle, will take the stage on Sept. 12 as a preview to the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival.

Carl Jackson worked with Glen Campbell who described Carl as “the greatest banjo player in the world.”

During his year’s with Campbell he started to work on his vocal and songwriting abilities as well as his musicianship. Hundreds of Carl’s songs have been recorded with sales in excess of 40 million units. Carl has been inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame and has been honored by the state with an official Country Music Trail Marker in his hometown of Louisville.

Referred to by Billboard magazine as “One of Music Row’s greatest veteran tunesmiths,” Jerry Salley has had an incredibly successful songwriting career. The 2003 SESAC Country Music Songwriter of the Year, Jerry has had over 450 songs recorded in his multi-award winning career. Most recently added to his list of recognition is his 2019 nomination to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Larry Cordle, a member of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, was given his start by neighbor and musical prodigy Ricky Skaggs recorded Larry’s song “Highway Forty Blues,” which went to #1. His career has seen him garner a number of awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association including the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America 2018 Songwriter of the Year and several Grammy nominations.  His songs have appeared on projects that have to date sold a combined total of more than 55 million records.

Jimmy Lumpkin Band | September 19

Straight out of a log cabin in South Alabama, Jimmy Lumpkin belts out sublime sounds that are altogether his own. Jimmy is a singer/songwriter and guitarist with an intoxicating voice and a stirring union of Rock & Soul, Folk-Blues and the flare of a long-remembered era of old Country music. With the voice of a 100-year-old angel from the delta, the soul found in Jimmy’s music is like no other. Music from a point of view you have never heard before. In the likes of Bob Dylan, Ray LaMontagne, Ryan Adams, Van Morrison, John Lee Hooker, The Black Keys, and Otis Redding, Jimmy Lumpkin Band play an eclectic blend of soulful roots rock and Americana.

John Hart Band | September 26

Florida-based artist John Hart is an acclaimed guitar player all along the East Coast and Gulf Coast. Leading up to his creation of John Hart Project, John spent a few years touring the East Coast with the prominent Sauce Boss. The warm, rich tones of John’s classical guitar playing approach brings an exciting and fresh presence to his live show, while his unique weaving of finger picking and blues influence brings a flavor to the sound like no other.
