The Feast

Shrimp is the star of the show, so dozens of vendors serve our favorite crustacean in all kinds of creative ways. While there's no shortage of fried and boiled shrimp, why not be a little adventurous and sample something with a twist?

When it comes to being creative, local chefs even get into the Shrimp Festival act. Chef Brandon Burrleson of Voyagers at Perdido Beach Resort took first place at the 2014 Restaurant Challenge for his popcorn shrimp and grits. Chef Jack Baker of Cosmo's/Cobalt turned in a second place performance for his Blackeye Pea Battered Fried Shrimp with Jalapeno Tartar, Jicama Slaw and Corn and Goat Cheese Fritters. The Hangout's Chef Ira Gallon and Frederic's at Faulkner State's Chef Brandon Thrash tied for third place for their Shrimp Jambalaya and Crispy Shrimp Sausage, respectively. Be sure to visit these and other restaurants while you're in town!

The Sounds

Two stages showcase musical entertainment day and night. The music starts Thursday, with performances including Sugarcane Jane, Dr. Zarr's Amazing Funk Monster and the perennial opening day favorite Tip Tops. Friday's always a big day, with performances by the Velcro Pygmies, local artist Brent Burns and Mr. X. Saturday brings performances by the Molly Ringwalds and Willie Sugarcapps. On Sunday, listen to the sounds of the Southern Drawl Band and Rhythm Intervention.

The Sights

Artists and craftsmen travel from all over the country to participate in the Annual National Shrimp Festival. Whether you're looking for whimsy, functional or fun, you'll find a wide variety of crafts to take home. Looking for something to add to your art collection? You'll find everything from paintings to sculptures and more.

The Young & Young At Heart

The Shrimp Festival is fun for the entire family, and that means there's plenty of excitement and entertainment for the little ones. Supervised activities include arts, crafts, games, entertainment, music and more. There are also interactive games and activities to keep the kids occupied. On Saturday, anyone is welcomed to participate in the Sand Sculpture Contest held at the west end of the beach at the public beach access. After you've spent the day at the festival, don't overlook the area's many other fun activities!

Plan now and reserve your favorite property for the upcoming National Shrimp Festival!
