Meyer Real Estate Gulf Shores FAQs

We prepared a list of frequently asked questions and it is the fastest way to get answers. If your question is not covered by our prepared responses, or if you want to let us know your comments, visit our contact page for a full list of contact numbers and email addresses.


Q:  What do I need to bring?
   A:  All Meyer rental properties are set up for normal housekeeping. However, the properties will NOT have paper towels, bathroom tissue, soap, or cleaning products. This brief checklist includes some helpful suggestions to assist you with your packing and shopping.

Q:  Can I bring the family pet?
   A:  All condominiums and the majority of houses prohibit PETS. If a pet or evidence of a pet is found in these properties, immediate eviction and a forfeiture of rent will occur.

• DOG FRIENDLY PROPERTIES – A limited number of houses (no condominiums) have been designated "DOG FRIENDLY PROPERTIES" either during non-summer seasons only or year round.  Dog Friendly Properties have certain weight restrictions and no cats are allowed. For details ask your Reservation Specialist.

A nonrefundable fee of $125 will apply to all “Dog Friendly Property” reservations

Q:  Can we grill out on our balcony?
   A:  No. Use of outdoor grills on decks, porches, balconies and underneath houses is prohibited. Grills are sometimes provided in common areas at condominiums, however we cannot guarantee their working order or availability.

Check-In Time

  • Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m.
  • Early check-in is not possible; therefore, we encourage you to enjoy our public beaches and attractions if you arrive in the area early.
  • Our housekeeping standards may require extra cleaning time for some properties, which may delay check-in.
  • Although keys may be released at 3:00 p.m., no guarantee is made that properties will be cleaned by 3:00 p.m.

Check-out Locations: Return your rental keys to the Meyer Real Estate office in the area where the rental property is located either at the Perdido Key or Gulf Shores office.

Check-out time - Check-out time is 10:00 a.m. Early departure key drop boxes are provided at Perdido Key or you may return keys during early departure to our Gulf Shores office (open 24 hours per day).


Q:  What furnishings do properties include?
   A:  All rental properties are equipped with the following, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED:

Q:  What are our departure responsibilities?
   A:  
  • Leave property reasonably clean and in reasonable order (Note: Additional cleaning charges may apply)
  • Leave kitchen items (dishes, cookware, etc.) clean and returned to their proper place
  • Dispose of all trash in proper outside containers
  • Lock all doors and windows
  • Leave all beds unmade and linens on the floor.

Q:  Will I have access to Internet & business services?
   A:  We provide a computer for our guests at our Gulf Shores office for accessing the Internet between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for 30-minute sessions. This system does not have printing capabilities. We do not have wi-fi service or the ability to connect your computer equipment to our systems. 

Q:  What if there is a hurricane or tropical storm?
   A:  Be advised Meyer Real Estate’s cancellation policy does not provide refunds for unforeseen developments such as illnesses, mandatory hurricane evacuations or similar events that can affect your trip. We strongly recommend that you purchase Trip Insurance. Guests purchasing Trip Insurance may qualify for a full refund through CSA Travel Protection. Note: Cancellations, date and property changes occurring less than the minimum days required notice (30 days for condominiums, 60 days for houses and 90 days for monthly rentals) will result in forfeiture of initial reservation payment, rent, taxes and fees – no exceptions.

Q:  Does my vacation property have internet access?
   A:  Some properties provide broadband Internet access, either fee-based or free, through their individual service providers. Internet service, if provided, cannot be guaranteed. Check with your reservation specialist for details.

Q:  Is there a maximum number of vehicles allowed at a property?
   A:  CONDOMINIUMS: Each Condominium Association regulates the number of parking passes issued to rental guests for each size property within the building(s). At many properties the Association assesses a fee which we collect and remit to the association. Based on the Association regulations and fees you will receive one or two parking passes in your arrival package. Note: We cannot guarantee available parking space during peak occupancy weekends in summer.

HOUSES: Parking passes are not required, however occupancy over the limit stated for the property is carefully monitored as evident by the number of parked cars.


Q:  How do I check out?
   A:  Check-out Locations: Return your rental keys to the Meyer Real Estate office in the area where the rental property is located (Gulf Shores or Perdido Key).

Q:  When do I pay my Initial Reservation Payment?
   A:  Your initial reservation payment is payable via MasterCard, VISA, Discover or American Express at reservation time. “Check-by-Phone” is available at reservation time, for a nonrefundable fee of $25.

Q:  What happens if there is inclement weather or if I decide to leave early?
   A:  There are no refunds for early departure due to inclement weather or personal circumstance unless you purchased trip insurance and it is a covered event. Call CSA Travel Protection 866.298.6846 or Click Here for details.

Q:  Do you provide cribs or highchairs?
   A:  No, but Portacribs, baby beds and high chairs are available for a rental fee from local businesses.

Q:  How can I get grocery delivery?
   A:  From Memorial Day to Labor Day our MEYER MARKET grocery delivery services are available. See details at TheMeyerMarket.com

Q:  Can I bring my jet skies, boat, or RV?
   A:  Boats, trailers, jet skis, campers and motor homes are prohibited, with the exception of a few waterfront condominiums allowing limited boat trailer parking on a first-come, first-served basis (ask your reservation specialist for details).

Q:  What is your cancellation policy?
   A:  30 days minimum notice for condominium rentals
60 days minimum notice for house rentals
90 days minimum notice for monthly rentals

Cancellations, dates and property changes occurring less than stated minimum days required notice will result in forfeiture of Initial Reservation Payment, rent, taxes and fees.

Q:  Can I make a reservation online?
   A:  Yes. After choosing a property and checking availability, click the “Book It” button and follow those easy steps.

Q:  What methods of payment do you accept?
   A:  Final payment (balance due after Initial Reservation Payment has been paid) is required 30 days prior to arrival. Payment may be made by MasterCard, VISA, Discover, American Express, Cashier's Check or Money Order. "Check-by-Phone" is also available for a nonrefundable fee of $25.

Q:  Do you offer travel insurance?
   A:  Yes, we offer an optional travel protection plan provided by CSA Travel Protection. Click here for more information.

Q:  What are your office hours?
   A:

Q:  Can I view properties online?
   A:  Yes, go to the Vacation Rental Search portion of MeyerRe.com and search by available dates, property type, gulf orientation, etc. There are photos of the properties and some have virtual tours showing the interior details of that property.

Q:  Can I view properties in person?
   A:  Due to liability reasons, keys cannot be released to prospective guests to view property; however, interior photos and virtual tours may be viewed online.

Q:  Can I make long-distance phone calls from the rental property?
   A:  All local calls are FREE. Long-distance and directory assistance calls must be made collect, via credit card or charged to your personal phone number. Long distance call providers will charge an access fee.

Q:  Can I cancel online?
   A:  If you must cancel, change dates or change properties please call us (1-800-213-9544) or email us (Rentals@MeyerRE.com) as soon as possible. We require a 30-day notice for condos and 60-day notice for houses prior to arrival for your initial reservation payment to be refunded or transferred. Monthly rentals require a 90-day notice of cancellation, date or property change. Cancellations or changes occurring within less than stated notice will cause your INITIAL RESERVATION PAYMENT to be forfeited. No refunds for early departure.

Q:  How do I report a lost item?
   A:  Call us at 800.775.8945 to report an item left behind when you departed one of our properties. We are not responsible for items left in properties; however, if items are located we will return them to you via C.O.D.

Q:  Can I send/receive a fax or make a photocopy during my vacation?
   A:  FREE photocopy and fax service is provided to vacation rental guests by our Business Center at the Gulf Shores office seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Q:  Are there any handicapped accessible properties?
   A:  NO rental properties are equipped for handicapped accessibility.
