Are you game to taste the best of the best oysters in the annual Oyster Cook-off presented by Alabama Gulf Seafood at The Hangout where the road ends and the fun begins in Gulf Shores?
Cook-off Judging
Local and regional teams from Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Mobile, Birmingham, Montgomery and Huntsville gather to compete in three main categories - Rockefeller, Gulf Coast Cajun or Create Your Own Raw oysters - at this exciting event held in early November.
Celebrity judges have the daunting job of sampling and selecting the top three oysters in each category. And you can cast your vote for the People’s Choice award by sampling the selections from over 40 restaurants and chefs.
Music & Football
It’s hard to tell which Oyster Cook-off attendees like better the oysters, beer and music or the oysters, beer and football. Several bands take their turn of entertaining the crowds from the outdoor stage during the day. When night falls however it’s football time because in the South football rules and this fun event is held on one of the big SEC football weekends. There’s plenty of friendly rivalry while the game plays on several big screen TV’s.
