Mobile's March Flower Show is the perfect addition to Gulf Shores vacations

certainly is something about the South in the springtime - the sweet scent of flowers fills the air as colorful blooms decorate the already-charming cities. It is this aesthetic that is elaborated upon during the Providence Hospital Foundation's Festival of Flowers in Mobile, Alabama each March.
Although many people rent Gulf Shores beach houses to enjoy the tropical beaches of the Gulf Coast region, which are stunning this time of year, this festival is a perfect excuse to head just a bit north and check out the beauty of the Southeastern United States during its most colorful time of year. Located about an hour north of Gulf Shores, Mobile is a perfect day trip from the beach town.
The city of Mobile itself is decorated with colorful blooms like azaleas and wisteria, but this beauty is taken to the next level at the Festival of Flowers. Here, you'll find gorgeous attractions like life-sized, landscaped gardens by acclaimed landscape architects and garden designers. Be sure to pick up container gardens to take some of these new ideas home with you, and also check out the designer tablescapes to get some ideas for decorating your home with flowers.
Gardeners can shop for plants, pots and other gardening tools and decorations, or even attend gardening seminars or demonstrations. Even if you don't have a green thumb, there is plenty to enjoy. The Mobile Museum of Art contributes by organizing Weekend Family Fun Days, and there are photography contests as well as featured artist showcases. Best of all, the proceeds from the event benefit Providence Hospital.
