Love bratwurst? Eat for a cause in Gulf Shores!
Sinkin
g your teeth into a juicy, flavorful bratwurst is enjoyable enough on its own, but imagine doing it for a good cause while relaxing in sunny Gulf Shores, Alabama. Thanks to the annual Bratfest in Gulf Shores, this dream can become a reality. Consider a vacation getaway in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan or Perdido Key during February to participate in all the fun and good will of this annual festival - yet another dining option on top of all the fabulous Gulf Shores restaurants!
For just $5, you'll get a piping hot brat while donating to the Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Fire Rescue Departments. Brats will be first come, first serve - about 3,000 will be served, but organizers expect they'll sell out by 12:30 p.m. You may want to arrive around 10 a.m. to secure your brat!
The event, typically held in early February, was started in 1998 and has raised more than $65,550 to date. It is sponsored by the 10 snowbird states organizations. According to the Press-Register, the money raised through these festivals has supported public safety education programs for children, and has paid for thermal imaging equipment and non-budgeted items like Freddy the Fire Truck, a small robotic fire truck that sprays water and is used to teach fire safety to children.
The event is fun for all ages, so whether you're vacationing at a Gulf Shores rental with the kids, grandma and grandpa, or just your spouse, the festival is a must.
