Get cultured at the Mobile Museum of Art
Nearly a decade after its major expansion in 2002, the Mobile Museum of Art has quickly become one of the most popular attractions in the state. Located in the tranquil Langan Park, it is the largest museum on the Gulf Coast between New Orleans and Tampa, featuring more than 9,000 pieces of artwork throughout the 95,000-square-foot facility.
The artifacts and artistic creations you'll find here span the last two centuries. No matter what time of year you visit, you can expect to see a new exhibit of modern and contemporary art at the facility, with many of the displays highlighting the history of the South.
Past and future exhibits
Curious about what you and your family can expect when you walk into the Mobile Museum of Art? There are so many exhibitions and experiences for you to choose from that you might have a hard time
narrowing down your options!
One such exhibition, titled Why We Are Here:
Mobile and the Spirit of a Southern City, would be
an interesting gallery space to visit, especially if
you're not from the area. Nearly 70 photos on display attempt to provide a catalogue of information concerning the history of the area, as well as provide you with fun facts about the famous people who have passed through the region.
Educational tours
Want to stimulate everyone's minds while staying at one of the condos or beach house rentals along the Gulf Coast of Alabama? Special areas like the interactive ART lab and the education wing were built for the sole purpose of teaching visitors and residents about the art world, and there are instructional classes almost every day.
Mobile is located just a short drive from the vacation rentals along the beach in Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, so all you need to bring along with you are creative juices and the urge to learn!
