Orange Beach Snapper Tournament
For the third year our area is home to a fishing tournament where you can buy a
ticket for $5 with the chance to win cash prizes totaling over $150,000. This popular
Orange Beach Red Snapper World Championship is dedicated to saving the recreational
fishing industry on Alabama’s Gulf Coast. On opening day of this month-long tournament,
that runs from mid-April to mid-May, more than 1,500 anglers purchased tickets. To
learn more about this tournament visit
www.OrangeBeachSnapper.com.
Gulf of Mexico Artificial Reefs
Marine Resources Division has been enhancing Alabama’s marine fisheries habitats for
many years creating one of the largest and most active offshore artificial reef
programs in the world. The funds raised at the Orange Beach Red Snapper World
Championship are donated to add additional artificial reefs. Last year’s tournament
resulted in adding 218 reefs and the goal this year is to add another 300 artificial
reefs to the system. To find your favorite fishing hole go to the Alabama Department
of Conservation and Natural Resources Marine Resources Division's
Inshore Reef Map or the
Gulf of Mexico DGPS Reef Coordinates.
